Join us for a technical presentation by Joe Bianconi, CHP, regarding the on-going effort to transfer 1,936 Cs-137 and Sr-90 capsules from pool storage to above-ground dry storage at the Waste Encapsulation and Storage Facility. The W-135 Project has moved 12.1 MCi of the 27 MCi of Cs-137 to date.
Mr. Charles J (Joe) Bianconi is the Project Health Physicist for the Management of Cesium and Strontium Capsules Project at the Hanford Nuclear Reservation’s Waste Encapsulation & Storage Facility, where he has worked for the last eight years. He is a Certified Health Physicist with a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Eckerd College and a master’s degree in health physics from Colorado State University. He has over 35 years of experience as a professional health physicist, the majority being spent at various Department of Energy sites.
